19 project proposals are currently being analyzed.
Industry Minister Andrew Parsons says while 19 wind energy projects are awaiting approval, none have been given the green light yet. Yesterday, BOIR news had a story about concerns being raised over wind hydrogen ammonia and the effect on the environment. The group, Enviro Watch NL, issued a news release yesterday. Minister Parsons says as a non-renewable oil producing jurisdiction, talking about emission reduction and net zero, this costs money. He says he understands concerns but says we have what it takes to make a successful industry and meet environmental targets. Minister Parsons says proposed wind projects are in the middle of the analysis stage and it's not likely all will be approved. Meanwhile, he says Nova Scotia has already approved multiple wind projects.
