There’s a new boss at RCMP NL. Assistant Commissioner Patrick (Pat) Cahill has been appointed as Commanding Officer. Born and raised in St. John’s, he brings over 32 years of dedicated service to his new role, most recently serving as the RCMP NL Criminal Operations Officer, where he oversaw police operations across the province in RCMP jurisdictions. He says he’s “honored to take on this new responsibility and to serve the people of Newfoundland and Labrador in this capacity,” Cahill added that having grown up here, he has “a deep connection to this province and is committed to working closely with our communities and partners to ensure safety and security for all.” Cahill is a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University and holds a Business Administration Degree, along with a Diploma of Management from Cornell University. He has been awarded the Order of Merit, Queens Jubilee Medal, Canadian Peace Keeping Medal, United Nations Mission in Kosovo Medal, and the Long Service Medal.
